A Night at the Circus | 2024
Director, Writer, Production Designer | Independent Short Film
"Bee, a trans 18 year old, has their first family dinner since coming out. To represent their anxiety and isolation they experience the situation with the props, sound effects, and costume of a clown."
This story is a satire drama I wrote to help myself through the transitioning process, especially when it came to reactions from old friends and family. I used comedy to expose the ridiculous ideologies of this stories characters, choosing to see Bee as something inhuman rather than accept their new identity. As a production designer I worked hard to make colors, costuming, and props essential to this script. These elements helped amplify clown antics such as the unending handkerchief and constant nose honking.
In September we filmed this script and brought it to life. I worked as Director and Production Designer on set. Below are some scene samples from the final locked script and production photos from our set.
